The top cacao producers in the world – Ivory Coast followed by its neighbour, Ghana – have been severely affected by the El Nino weather pattern. The climate phenomenon, characterised by warmer than average sea surface temperatures in the equatorial Pacific Ocean, has been bringing drier conditions to the West Africa region.
The fourth largest African producer of cocoa is Cameroon. We're very pleased to have found our first Affiliate contact in Africa, in Cameroon, near the town of Kumasi. Cocoa production in Cameroon plays a significant role in the country’s economy and cultural heritage. With lush landscapes and favorable climatic conditions, Cameroon has become one of Africa’s key cocoa-producing nations. It is the 5th most producing country in the world with a production of 295,028 ton/year (in 2023).
Our mission is to help the farmers and the industry in general in Africa to deal with and adapt to climate change. We've already established relations in Nigeria and we look forward to working with farmers and chocolate makers in other African countries soon.
